Spaghetti Napoli

Classic pasta with a simple, aromatic tomato sauce, fresh basil, and a hint of garlic. A timeless Italian favorite for any meal.

Steps

1
Finely chop the onion and garlic. Roughly chop the fresh basil leaves.
2
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
3
While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and saute until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
4
Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes, add the sugar, remaining salt, and black pepper. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and let it gently simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
5
Drain the cooked spaghetti and add them directly to the tomato sauce in the pan. Toss to combine thoroughly. Stir in the chopped fresh basil. Serve immediately, optionally garnished with extra fresh basil.
