Nasi Goreng with Fried Egg

A classic Indonesian fried rice dish packed with flavorful chicken and served with a perfectly fried egg on top. Quick to prepare and incredibly satisfying for any meal.

Steps

1
Dice the chicken breast into small pieces. Finely chop the onion and mince the garlic cloves.
2
Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large wok or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and stir-fry until cooked through, about 5-6 minutes. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
3
Add the cold cooked rice to the pan with the chicken and vegetables. Pour in the sweet soy sauce and regular soy sauce, then sprinkle with salt and white pepper. Stir-fry for 5-7 minutes, breaking up any clumps of rice, until everything is well combined and heated through.
4
While the Nasi Goreng is cooking, heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a separate small frying pan. Fry the eggs one by one to your desired doneness, ideally with a runny yolk.
5
Serve the hot Nasi Goreng immediately, topped with a freshly fried egg for each portion.
