Steps
1
Prepare the mashed potatoes: Bring 700ml of water and the milk to a boil. Remove from heat, add instant mashed potato flakes, 30g of butter, 3g of salt, and 1g of black pepper. Stir well until smooth. Let it rest for 2 minutes, then fluff with a fork.
2
Heat the Köttbullar: While the potatoes are resting, heat the pre-cooked Köttbullar according to package instructions. Typically, you can fry them in a pan over medium heat for 8-10 minutes until heated through and lightly browned, or heat them in the oven.
3
Prepare the cream sauce: In a small saucepan, melt the remaining 50g of butter over medium heat. Add the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Stir in the heavy cream and let it gently simmer for 5 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly. Season with the remaining 2g of salt and 1g of black pepper.
4
Serve: Arrange the warm Köttbullar, creamy mashed potatoes, and a generous spoonful of the rich cream sauce on plates. Serve immediately with a side of lingonberry jam.
